Maggie Thatcher statue
Been unveiled in Grantham (Her birthplace) and has already been the subject of hostility and objects being thrown at it.

Who honestly thought this was a good idea to put this thing up?

Regardless of who’s side you are on politically, to put up a statue of probably one of the most controversial figures in British history and someone that is hated by so many is baffling.

Re: Maggie Thatcher statue
Because conservatives (small 'c' was intentional) are optimistic and hope that eventually left wingers will stop acting like adolescents and perhaps realise that not everyone had to agree with them.

Also, to call her the one of the most controversial figures in British history is ridiculous unless British history started 50 years ago.

Re: Maggie Thatcher statue
Whether you loved or hated her she was a pivotal figure in British history. Would anyone object if a statue to Blair was put up? I bet a lot would!

Re: Maggie Thatcher statue
Hermit.

In terms of politics she is one of the most controversial and divisive people in British History.

Some of her actions were controversial and millions of people in this country particularly up north absolutely despised her.

Re: Maggie Thatcher statue
She may of kicked a lot of shit off but both conservative and labour governments since have done little to reverse what she kicked off just re-jigged the logic to suit........party politics is what destroys this country........

The left are clearly scared of strong, powerful women.

Love her or loathe her but she broke down barriers for women.

I personally thought she was fantastic but went on for too long.
